For wet lab scientists, streamlining protocol creation and updating SOPs is essential for efficiency and reproducibility. We offer three ways to create protocol templates, designed to save you time and avoid re-writing experimental steps from scratch. Here’s how you can leverage these features:

1. From the Template Library

  • Navigate to your Template Library, where all your SOPs and protocols are stored.

  • Select the template that closely matches your needs.

  • Click the 3 dots for more options and choose ‘Edit’ to adjust the template.

  • Once edits are made, click the 3 dots again in the top right corner and opt for ‘Clone.’

  • Name your new template based on the adjusted protocol.

2. Directly From a Protocol in Labspace

  • If you’re already editing a protocol to meet new experimental conditions or updated lab guidelines, you can easily clone it.

  • Click the 3 dots at the top right of the protocol page, then choose ‘Clone.’

  • Make the necessary adjustments on the newly cloned protocol.

  • Select the ‘Templatize’ option to save it as a new, reusable protocol template for future experiments.

3. Templatize an Edited Protocol in Labspace

  • If you’ve already made edits to an existing protocol and want to save it as a template, without needing to open it again:

  • Click the 3 dots next to the protocol title in Labspace.

  • Choose the ‘Templatize’ option to instantly create a new template based on the latest version of your protocol.

This allows you to quickly modify existing protocols, like ELISA or qPCR setups, and store them as reusable templates, ensuring your lab’s SOPs stay up to date with minimal effort.
