Conducting experiments in a research environment can be challenging, especially when it comes to tracking and documenting every detail, from equipment usage to reagents and results. Researchers often face the daunting task of maintaining organized records, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Scispot Labspace offers a comprehensive solution to this problem, allowing researchers to design, execute, and document experiments seamlessly.

DESIGNING YOUR EXPERIMENT

Comprehensive Documentation:

The experiment page allows researchers to document every aspect of an experiment, including objectives, procedures, materials, and results. This documentation is essential for reproducibility, collaboration, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Multifaceted Data Integration:

Labspaces enables the integration of various types of data such as chemical structures, DNA/RNA sequences, analytical results, tables, images, files, and code blocks. This integration provides a holistic view of the experiment, fostering a more comprehensive understanding of the research.

Labspaces enhances collaboration by consolidating information, provides version control for tracking changes, ensures data security and compliance, offers searchable and accessible experiment pages, streamlines workflows through automation, and facilitates data analysis and reporting, improving overall research efficiency and productivity.

PROTOCOL SETUP

Choosing or Creating a Protocol

Labspace empowers researchers with the flexibility to either pick a ready-to-use protocol template or design one from scratch. Protocols guide experiment execution, ensuring that every step is followed in a sequential manner. This not only enhances the reproducibility of experiments but also streamlines the entire research process.

Workflow Diagram

A unique feature of Labspace is the inclusion of a workflow diagram. This visual representation provides a clear overview of the experiment's progress, indicating completed protocols and the researcher's current position in the workflow. It serves as a roadmap, aiding researchers in maintaining a structured and organized approach to their work.

PROTOCOL EXECUTION IN EXPERIMENTS

  • Viewing Protocols: To see the steps of a protocol added to the experiment, click "View Protocol" and follow each step to complete it.

  • Inventory Tracking: Effortlessly monitor materials and control inventory with the "Inventory Automation" feature within the protocol page. Simply click "View Protocol" for each protocol, navigate to "Inventory Automation," and select "Consumed Inventory" for used lab materials or "Output Inventory" for generated materials. Update inventory directly from your protocol pages, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.

  • Assigning Protocols to Labmates: You can assign different protocols to different labmates by adding their email ID in the user icon next to each protocol.

RECORDING RESULTS

Efficiently record experiment results in Labspace by seamlessly uploading diverse outcomes from wet lab experiments, such as graphpad PZF files and images. Integrate essential native and third-party apps within Labspace, like Manifest, Location Manager, Order Manager, LabSQL, Sequence Designer, Dataroom, Inventory Automation, and Equipment Booking. This integrated app ecosystem provides researchers with a versatile toolkit for collaborative data storage and streamlined analysis in Labspace.

This feature ensures that all findings are systematically documented in Labspace, making it easy to retrieve and analyze data during the research analysis phase.

EMBEDDED LABSHEETS INSIDE LABSPACE

Researchers can embed Labsheets in Labspace to serve as an all-encompassing solution for seamlessly recording experiment materials and results. Researchers can efficiently manage diverse inputs, including Chemical , Equipment, Biological, Consumable, Sample and Instrument Material Manager, facilitating a streamlined approach to experiment design.

Moreover, embedded Labsheets offer a versatile tool for documenting expected experiment results. Researchers can record a variety of outcomes, such as images, files, graphs, analytics, sequences, tables and different visualizations, ensuring an organized and thorough result-tracking process. This integrated functionality within Labspace provides researchers with a centralized platform to manage materials and anticipate experiment results efficiently.

  • Location Manager Tracking: Trace the location manager for each entry, ensuring a clear understanding of where each sample or data point is stored.

  • Adding New Rows: Researchers can easily add new rows to the Labsheet within Labspace, facilitating the inclusion of new records as the experiment progresses.

  • Exporting Labsheet Table: Export the Labsheet table to share comprehensive data with your labmates or for further analysis outside of Labspace.

  • Barcode Printing: Labspace allows researchers to print barcodes directly for entries in the Labsheet. This capability enhances traceability and is particularly important for accurate sample identification and management.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

  • Monitoring Experiment Progress

Researchers can track the progress of their experiments using the STATUS and progress bar features in Labspace. These visual indicators provide real-time insights into the current status of each experiment, helping researchers stay informed about their ongoing work.

  • Start and End Dates

Labspace allows researchers to set start and end dates for experiments, providing a timeline for the entire research process. This feature enhances project management, allowing researchers to plan and execute experiments within specified timeframes.

  • Cloning Experiments: Researchers can clone experiments, saving time when a similar experimental setup is required. This feature is particularly useful in scenarios where the methodology remains consistent across multiple studies.

  • e-signature and approval workflow: To add an extra layer of accountability and validation, Labspace allows researchers to get their experiments signed by supervisors or reviewers. This feature is crucial for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the conducted experiments, aligning with the standards set by the research team.

  • Collaboration and Sharing: Labspace promotes collaboration by enabling researchers to share their designed experiments with labmates. This not only fosters teamwork but also facilitates knowledge sharing and exchange of insights within the research community.

  • Generate Print-Ready PDF: Researchers can export and generate print-ready PDFs of their experiments directly from Labspace. This feature is handy for creating comprehensive reports, sharing findings with colleagues, or submitting documentation for review and publication.

  • Manage Access: Labspace streamlines access and permissions through "Manage Access" where you can assign roles like Admin, Manager, or External User, tailoring specific editing or viewing rights for secure collaboration.

  • Audit Trail: Keeps a detailed record of all activities and changes made to data, ensuring transparency and accountability.

By leveraging the powerful features of Scispot Labspace, researchers can overcome the challenges associated with experiment tracking and documentation. The platform's user-friendly interface and robust capabilities make it a valuable tool for enhancing research efficiency and collaboration in the scientific community.
