Overview
Scispot lets teams add an extra layer of trust to Labspace protocol and experiment sign-off with multi-factor authentication. It helps make approvals more secure, especially for workflows where accuracy, traceability, and accountability matter. It also reduces the risk of unauthorized sign-offs and adds more confidence to review steps tied to regulated or high-value work. When MFA is enabled for sign-off, the action is tied more clearly to the person completing it, which supports audit readiness and cleaner documentation.
In this article, we will walk through how to set up multi-factor authentication and use it for Labspace protocol and experiment sign-off.
Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication
Navigate to your profile icon in the lower-left corner of the Scispot page.
Click My Profile.
Go to the Security section.
Choose the verification method shown on screen, such as an authenticator app.
Click Enable.
To begin the authenticator setup process, click Get Started.
Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
Click Next after scanning the QR code.
Enter the code from your authenticator app.
Click Confirm to complete the MFA setup.
Once setup is complete, you will see a message confirming that 2FA is active.
Using Two-Factor Authentication for Sign-Off
Click on Labspace and open the Labspace where the protocol or experiment is stored.
Select the protocol or experiment you want to sign off and open it.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select Page Signing.
Scispot will check whether two-factor authentication is enabled for your account.
If 2FA is enabled, you will be asked to enter your verification code.
Enter the code from your authenticator app.
Click Self Approve to review and sign off the protocol yourself, or add reviewers in the Reviewers section.
If you selected Self Approve, complete the signing step to finish the sign-off process.
Conclusion
Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to Labspace protocol and experiment sign-off.
It helps make sure the right person is completing the action and gives teams more confidence in their review process.
Once set up, the flow is simple and fits naturally into day-to-day work.
For labs that need stronger control, clearer accountability, and better audit support, enabling MFA for sign-off is a practical step as it keeps the process secure without making it hard for users to complete approvals.
