Overview:

Imagine you’re at your bench, in the middle of an experiment. Your gloves are on. You have samples and reagents lined up.

Earlier, adding them meant pausing your work to open a Labsheet, search through rows, and pick the right record.

But now you can just scan the barcode. The scanner tool instantly finds and selects the matching item, and you can add it right away. This works in embedded Labsheets, and so logging the right sample, container, or record takes seconds and keeps your workflow moving.

How it works:

  1. Keep the printed barcode ready,or have the barcode ID you want to scan/type.

  2. Open the protocol or experiment where the Labsheet is embedded.

  3. Click the arrow on the top-right of the embedded Labsheet to expand it.

  4. Click ‘Add Items’.

  5. Select ‘Scan Barcode’.

  6. Choose one option: ‘Scan using camera’ or ‘Use your own scanner’.

  7. If you choose your own scanner, scan the barcode or type the barcode ID.

  8. Click ‘Add Item’ to add the scanned record to the Labsheet.

Conclusion:

This small change helps you stay focused on the experiment.

By scanning a barcode instead of searching rows, records get logged faster and with fewer mistakes.
