We’re excited to announce a complete overhaul of our Location Manager, designed to make managing locations easier, faster, and more powerful than ever before.

What’s New?

1. Redesigned Interface

We’ve streamlined the entire interface for clarity and ease of use. Whether you're managing a single location or hundreds, the new design helps you stay organized and efficient with a cleaner layout and more intuitive navigation.

The entire location hierarchy is now always visible in the left panel of the Location Manager. Even when you're working within a deeply nested location, you can see the full tree structure and related locations at a glance — making it easier than ever to navigate and understand your environment.

2. More Specific Location Types

Previously, all locations in the system were categorized as either root locations, nodes, or racks, with nodes serving as a catch-all for everything from rooms to freezers.

With this update, we’re introducing distinct location types for greater clarity and control:

  • Rooms: General-purpose physical spaces

  • Freezers: Now with temperature display and tracking capabilities

  • Shelves: For organizing equipment or racks within rooms or freezers

  • Racks: As before, for precise positioning of manifests

This new structure improves visual organization, enables type-specific functionality, and sets the foundation for smarter automation and tracking in the future.

3. Manifest Previews

You can now preview manifest contents directly within the Location Manager—no need to navigate away. Instantly view labels, tags, and samples assigned to each manifest.

Want more detail? Simply hover over a sample to view quick details without clicking through. If you need to make edits, just open the full manifest with a single click, right from where you're working.

4. Activity Logs

Each location now has its own activity log, allowing you to track changes and actions specific to that location. This will give you even more visibility, accountability, and traceability across your workspace.
